Plein Air near Tumut

Gilmore Valley Tumut
This little one was painted at the Gilmore Valley, a very pretty spot where we had an audience of cows that came to give their opinion.

Earlier this year I spent a week plein air painting in around Tumut. There is an abundance of inspirational scenery in this area including Lacmalac, Brungle, Gilmore Valley and through to Gundagai.

I had the good fortune of being part of a group which includes some of Australia’s best landscape artists including John Wilson, Ross Patterson,Warwick Fuller and others.

I painted this on a reserve at Brungle, I like the feel and colour.

Plein air painting is a great way to get quick studies done because of the changing light you need to work fast and this in turn makes you ‘see’ better and reduce the scene to a paintable image.

Although these images a ‘quickies’ they were enjoyable to do and will be used for reference with my studio work.

Also painted at Brungle. You can stand in one spot here and see a scene to paint in any direction you look.

I will post more items on my activities soon.
